Ultimately in our environment, the root cause was that c:\windows\fonts didn't have proper permissions established, which is apparently a known bug in the Win 10 Creators Update (Build 1709). I don't know if anyone else is having this issue, but. Any possible ideas as to why the printers would be preventing this? All users that had this issue were printing to HPs. So far I've tested different printers to see if that was an issue.
I tried the font batch file flush and the issue also persisted after a second print. It fixed the ticket that came in but the user that has been having this issue still had the problem persist. I used the fix where you go to the word templates and open the normal doc then change the font to Arial. At the same time another ticket was received for the same issue. They were temporally okay till I received a call the next day and the issue still persisted. Another user in my office had the same issue and I used that fix. The fix had worked and the user hasn't had the issue ever since. My first encounter with it, was fixed by renaming the template file Normal to Normal_old. I've encountered this issue on multiple occasions so far when my users try to print from word.
